This expedition followed on from the group that travelled to Yosemite in 2022. The objectives the 2022 expedition were to develop more advanced big wall and aid climbing skills, which could then be disseminated to allow more adventurous College expeditions involving remote first ascents. The group also wanted to improve their free climbing skills on features uncommon in the UK such as crack climbing and granite friction slabs. A further aim was for the whole team to summit El Capitan at least once. In addition to funding provided by the Exploration Board this expedition was supported by the Old Centralians' Trust.
