In 2012 we were visited by a European Quality
Improvement System (EQUIS) re-accreditation
panel and by The Association to Advance
Collegiate Schools of Business panel. Formal
notification of the results of the accreditation visits
will be available by December 2012. The School
already has accreditation from the Association
of MBAs and EQUIS, but securing all three would
be a great achievement, one not shared by many
other institutions.

The Business School was delighted to welcome

to head up the
. Between 2008 and 2012
Professor Atun was on extended leave as a member
of the Executive Management Team of The Global
Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. He
was the Director of Strategy, Performance and
Evaluation Cluster, based in Geneva.

Professor Carol Propper was awarded a prestigious
Professorial Fellowship by the Economic and Social
Research Council. This grant will fund work into
market mechanisms on the delivery of healthcare
over a three-year period.

During the interim period until a new Principal
is appointed

as Deputy Principal for Faculty and Programmes

, Head of Innovation
and Entrepreneurship, has been appointed as
the Deputy Principal for Research and Business
Engagement. Professor George will also lead the
School’s faculty hiring for the Research Excellence
Framework (REF) and Professor Gann is leading the
School’s submission to the 2013 REF.

was awarded the
for his vision and use of iPads
to improve the learning environment on the MSc
Strategic Marketing programme. The iPads have been
introduced to replace all textbooks and lecture notes
to improve the learning environment for students.
