In this workshop, we will explore how to work in ways that enable people to do their best independent thinking, individually and in groups. This is based on the work of Nancy Kline over many decades, as published in her books 'Time to Think' and 'More Time to Think'.

In particular, we will practise and discuss the ten components of a Thinking Environment and how they prompt and support excellent thinking.

Who is it for?

This workshop will be particularly relevant to leaders and managers who seek to develop their staff and gain their thinking about important issues and people with a coaching or mentoring role who want to help people to think well about rich or complex problems.

Key areas

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the ten components of a Thinking Environment and how they support independent thinking
  • Use the components in one-to-one conversations to help individuals to think in-depth and resolve complex issues
  • Use the components in group environments to elicit the best thinking of all present.
